Founded in 2022 in São Paulo, Brazil, Rosa Canina is an independent Brazilian production company dedicated to Brazilian and Latin American stories that move people through emotion, inspiring them to reflect on the world around them. To that end, we build strategic creative partnerships to bring sensitive stories to life, told with courage.
Among our projects in development are “Faraday Cage”, a mystery feature film directed by Ana Johann and written by Inaê Luz, based on Gabriela Richinitti’s award-winning novel “Gaiola de Esperar Tempestades” and selected for TFL Next Feature Film 2026; “The Pains of Labor”, a horror feature film written and directed by Jessica Gonzatto, selected for TFL Next Feature Film 2023 and named a Featured Project by VS-Fantastic! at Ventana Sur in 2025; and “The Whistle”, a serial killer thriller created by Fernanda Chazan.
Among our projects in production are “Corpo D’Água”, a horror short film written and directed by Jessica Gonzatto and produced in partnership with Flor Filmes; and “Jamile e Janice”, a feature-length documentary directed by Luiz Bolognesi, Jamile Oliveira, and Janice Cardoso, set to be filmed in the second half of 2026 as a co-production with Buriti Filmes. “Rebeca ASMR”, a fiction short film written, produced, and directed by Laura Riolfi Barzotto, is currently in post-production.
The Creator
Laura Riolfi Barzotto is a producer with a degree in Film and Audiovisual Studies from the University of São Paulo (USP). With over eight years of experience, she has worked at production companies including O2 Filmes, Pródigo, South, and Abrolhos Filmes. She has been part of the executive production team on genre feature films and series for streaming platforms, including “Raul Seixas – I Am” (Globoplay, 2025), “Cidade de Deus: The Fight Rages On” (Warner, 2024), and “New Bandits – Season One” (Amazon, 2023).
On the arthouse side, she produced the documentary “Chico Rei Entre Nós” (Joyce Prado, 2020), which won an award at the 44th São Paulo International Film Festival and was screened at over twenty national and international festivals; the fiction feature “Tony Odissey” (Thales Banzai, 2026), which premiered at the prestigious Slamdance Film Festival and won an award at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival; and the documentary short “Miranha” (Zahy Tentehar and Luiz Bolognesi, 2025), selected for the Rio Film Festival.
Also noteworthy is her involvement in several international co-productions, including the coming-of-age drama “The Blue Flamingo” (Beatriz Seigner, in post-production), a co-production between Brazil, France, and Uruguay; and “Dom Salvador e Abolição” (Arthur Ratton and Lilka Hara, forthcoming), a documentary co-produced by Brazil and the United States, set for a theatrical release later in 2026.
