Rosa Canina is a production company founded by Laura Riolfi Barzotto. At Rosa Canina, Laura produces projects to mobilize viewers through emotion, making them reflect on the world. Among them are “The Pains of Labour” (Jessica Gonzatto), participant of the Torino Next Film Lab 2023, ECM+LAB of the Festival Audiovisual Mercosul 2023 and Semi-finalist of La Fabrique 2024 and “The Whistle” (written by Fernanda Chazan), semi-finalist of the 3rd LAB 51 Writer’s Room 51 and TDC Content and Finalist of LATINX 2022, a feature film screenwriting competition run by the Latin American Training Center.
Laura Riolfi Barzotto is a producer, documentary filmmaker and screenwriter. She has a degree in Audiovisual from the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2019, she was selected for the Chinese program “Looking China Youth Film Project 2019”, in which she made a short documentary film, “海洋之舞 (When the Ocean Danced)”, acclaimed by the audience at the closing ceremony.
Between 2018 and 2020, she was executive producer at Abrolhos Filmes, where she produced the documentary “Chico Rei Among Us” (Joyce Prado, 2020), which premiered at the 44th São Paulo International Exhibition (Brazil), winning the “Best Documentary Award Brazilian” from the public and “Honorable Mention” from the jury and was shown in more than 20 national and international festivals. She also produced the first season of the 4-episode documentary series “Educação Que Dá Certo” (2022), available on its own internet platform. She is executive producer on the feature film “The Blue Flamingo” (Beatriz Seigner), a co-production between Globo Filmes, Telecine, Canal Brasil and Cinésud.
Between 2020 and 2023, she worked on the executive production coordination team at the production company O2 Filmes, in which she was directly involved with the series “Brotherhood – Second Season” (Netflix, 2022), “Maldives” (Netflix, 2022), “Joint Venture – Second Season” (HBO, 2022), “September Mornings – Second Season” (Amazon, 2022), “The Forgotten Valley” (HBO, 2022), “As Aventuras de José e Durval” (Globoplay, 2023), “New Bandits” (Amazon, 2023), “Raul Seixas – Metamorfose Ambulante” (Globoplay, in post-production), “City of God – Series” (Warner, to be released in august), “Pssica” (Netflix, in production) and the feature filme “Corrida dos Bichos” (Amazon, in production).
In 2023, she became part of the executive production team at South, founded by Alice Braga and Bianca Comparato to bring stories from the global south to the world. Among other projects, she produces a new audio series for Audible.
Over the years, Laura also produced the music videos “É o Poder” (Karol Conka), with more than 22 million views, and “Robin & Batman” (Chonps). She also produced the fiction web series “Entrelinhas” (Giuliano Rossi), “Lavou, Tá Novo” (Jean di Barros) and the first season of “Desaventureiros” (Fai Mazell and Lucas Durão), totaling more than 300,000 views.
She also produced the short fiction films “Seja Bem-Vindo” (Lucas Piloto), “Sedan” (Pedro Formigoni) and “Perdeu” (Pedro Formigoni). She was part of the production team for the short fiction films “Desaparecido” (Guili Minki), “Um Filme de Baixo Orçamento” (Paulo Leierer), and “A Melhor Amiga” (Andrey Moritz) and the feature-length fiction film “13 Andares” (Eliana Fonseca). She is also the director of the short documentary film “Contravenção”, together with Glaucia Tiemi, Klaus Oti and Lucas Pecoraro.
